Salerno Lake is in Haliburton County, ​and our lake falls in two municipalities: 
​Minden Hills at the north end and ​Highlands East in the mid and south end.

Haliburton County was formed in 1983,[4] and consists of the following municipalities:

• Township of Minden Hills → Minden, Irondale
• Municipality of Highlands East → Wilberforce, Gooderham, Cardiff​
• Municipality of Dysart et al → Haliburton (main town), Eagle Lake, West Guilford, Fort Irwin
• Township of Algonquin Highlands → mostly hamlets and rural settlements, but Eagle Lake is often associated here too, depending on boundary references 

These places are considered communities/hamlets rather than incorporated towns, but they are indeed the main populated centres of the county.
