Our Water

Many Salerno Lake cottagers have asked: Where does our water come from? Who controls the water levels? If you’ve been wondering the same, read on...

Where Does Our Water Come From and Go?

Picture
INFLOW - water flows from Fortesque Lake to White Lake, which empties into Salerno Lake via the White Lake Dam.

OUTFLOW - Salerno Lake empties into the Salerno Creek, then the Irondale River, which empties into the Burnt River (see map below) just before Kinmount.

Picture
Salerno Lake is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway (map) via the Irondale River. This water flow is one of many sources within the Burnt River Watershed that feeds into Fenelon Falls between  Sturgeon Lake and Cameron Lake, then into the Trent-Severn Waterway.
