What We Have Done

Here are just a few examples of what SDLCA does. All of this goes a long way to preserving the value of your property. The more members we have, the louder our VOICE becomes in our community.

Island Shoreline Restoration... Completed June 2018 - This restoration is made possible by The Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners’ Association (CHA), with funding through the Great Lakes Guardian Fund, in partnership with the Salerno (Devil’s) Lake Cottagers’ Association and Paul Heaven of Glenside Ecological Services Limited. Working together to build healthy, natural shorelines. Big thank you to all those who volunteered to make this event successful!

Lake Plan... an invaluable means of protecting our community and environment in the future.. This Salerno Lake - Lake Plan has been a major undertaking by a small but very dedicated group of volunteers and the support of the Salerno (Devil’s) Lake Cottagers’ Association. Although the lake plan study is being undertaken by the SDLCA, it benefits everyone within the lake community (including both seasonal and permanent residents), not just members. The purpose of the Lake Plan is to provide information on the Salerno Lake Community and recommendations to assist in maintaining, sustaining and improving the things we value as residents of the Salerno Lake Community.

The Boat Launch... When the boat launch was relocated at the North end of the lake a few years ago, it was thanks to the efforts of the SDLCA that the new launch site was ready in the Spring following the Fall closure. Initially, the SDLCA was advised not to expect it to be ready until the summer of the following year. But SDLCA members attended the Minden Hills and Highlands East Council meetings and worked with staff and council representatives of both townships to ensure that the new boat launch was expedited speedily. Success!

Saving Trees... When the tree pruning was implemented along the roadside a few years back, the SDLCA insisted on proper pruning of the trees to keep them from dying. The effort was a success, and many of the trees were saved!
